The Cohost: Collab

We love trading for content with photographers, bloggers, influencers, etc. but we do have some rules to help make sure we get what we need.

What we love!

  • LANDSCAPE wide horizontal photos first

    • This is key for the Airbnb listing! Portrait variants are nice, but the focus is landscape.

  • CANDID shots with the amenties BTS / documentary style

    • cooking, eating, relaxing, coffee mornings, cozy bedroom vibes, reading in bed, playing games, tasteful hot tub shots, lounging in the sun, etc.

    • Just have fun at the house and capture that

  • Far away shots of the house with models smaller in the frame

  • The “likeness” of the house / amenties at all times (no random spots with no context)

Good examples from our portfolio are…

Candid shots enjoying the amenties.

These are meant to be candid photos that do not appear too staged.

The goal is not to have the model’s face dominate the frame, but have the photo be about the surrounding house and its likeness first.

Not looking into the camera is important.

Far away shots that highlight the house or outdoor amenity first, then the model is just delicately placed in the frame second.

The goal of these photos is to really take a photo of the surroundings first, then spot someone inside of the frame.

What we don’t love

  • EMPTY SHOTS: models must be present in all photos

  • close ups with no likeness of the house

  • basic wide-angle room shots

  • looking into the camera

  • obscure backgrounds

  • unnatural poses

  • rules breaking (like glass in the hot tub)

  • too sexy (shoot that way all you want for you! But we need a more family friendly version for us)

Basic Rules

  1. No weekend nights - Unless specific cases based on reach/exposure.

  2. No surprise guests - Please let us know of all friends who will be joining you. This includes HMU, stylists, friends, etc. We are working these trades based off the content we get and the impact on the house. So if you say it’s just you and your partner coming and 5 more people show up, what we expect content-wise from the shoot will change and/or we’ll need to charge for them.

  3. Dogs - We love dogs but we just need to be aware of them as it’s the only thing we’d likely charge for.

  4. Partnership Deals - Any combined partnership must be cleared first (ads, brands, shoots, etc.) we are not a free location for your paid gig, but we are willing to work out a deal so this works out for both of us.

Standard Deliverables

This will vary from shoot to shoot, but these are our basics.

One (1) Instagram grid post with @thehousename and @thecohostcompany prominently tagged in the description and friend tagged from each person/account staying at the house.

Example:

“Thank you @thecohostcompany for hosting us at @highwesthouse!”

or just emoji tagging like this…

📍@highwesthouse
🔑@thecohostcompany

At least two (2+) Instagram stories with @thehousename tagged in at least two, and @thecohostcompany tagged in at least one. The more the merrier though!

At least twenty (20+) fully processed full-resolution delivered photos.

The likeness of the house must be present and follow the rules of “What we love!” outlined below for all of the above.
We know often times you want to get wildly different content for yourselves than we outline here, and that’s ok! You can go crazy and shoot whatever you need for yourselves too.

What nights do you have open?

If we haven’t discussed dates and houses yet visit this link www.airbnb.com/p/joshuatree then click the “Dates” button on the left and you can poke around to see if the ones you want are open. Or you can open up any listing and look over the calendar on Airbnb to see what’s available. Likely I’ll be sending you open nights to choose from though.
